Teaching Artist: George Apotsos
“Using your imagination is a great resource for subject matter in your artwork,” says George Apotsos, AOY member teaching-artist who is offering a class on the art of surrealism and narrative painting, an art form that his own work has been closely associated with. Through this course George will teach various methods and techniques that can be used to create dream-like characters and scenarios in your paintings that are full of symbolism and imagination. Avoid composition mistakes and learn how to arrange objects and images that best help narrate a story, idea or theme. Improving mixing and painting techniques will be demonstrated. This is primarily an acrylic painting class but collage and photo-montage will be utilized and oil painters are welcomed. Art material will be provided for early classes but the majority of art supplies are the responsibility of the student. Materials will be discussed in class and a list will be provided.
*** No class November 20 for Thanksgiving break
