#25 Fiber and Fabric Arts! Teaching Artist - Elizabeth Taraba Week 7, 9 am - 12 pm Ages 12 - 16 $200*
We will explore different artistic creations including: Weaving, Batik, Macrame, and Open Weave Patterns. Weaving will utilize simple looms and we will learn to create a loose weave with wool to create a "plaid" design. We will also learn to create a more complex design in the style of Navajo rug weaving. Batik is an artform using hot wax and cold dyes to create a beautiful layered image on cotton fabric. Students will design their own batik. We will start on day one, so that we can get all of our colors done! Macrame is a Knot tying process that can be used to make large or small projects, and open weaving takes advantage of the easily accessed threads in fine linen to create "holes" by stitching around an area to be removed. No sewing experience is required, although being able to tie a knot is a good start! All material fees are included.
