Do you have keepsakes hidden away in a drawer? Small items in memory of the person who gave them to you or originally owned them? Turn these memorable items into works of art by assembling them within a shadowbox. Teaching artist George Apotsos will guide participants through a series of workshops that encourage storytelling and stimulate the creative process. Afterwards, bring your laptops to paint from your own uploaded photographs or images captured off the Internet. Of course, printed images are suitable for use as source material too. Students will explore traditional blocking-in methods while developing subject matter using expressive color, contrast and brushwork.
