#53 Graphic Design, Illustration & Bookbinding!
Teaching Artist - Elizabeth Taraba
Week 5, 9 am - 12 pm
Ages 12 - 16
$225*

Enter the world of graphic design and illustration by creating a one of a kind Counting Book using markers, colored pencils, and glue. Come to camp with ideas for this fun 1 to 10 counting book. You can create an original story or just explore a favorite topic such as sea creatures, flowers, birds, or foods!

Imagine a crazy mixed up package design based on existing products, but altered to reflect a silly, humorous take on the product, or a "self portrait" style design. The boxes we create will be fully usable for storage or hiding small treasures! We will use mixed media such as watercolor, watercolor crayons, alcohol markers, permanent markers, colored pencils and acrylic paints in illustration board to create a large illustration for a favorite book passage, poem, quotation, or song lyric... the words can be incorporated into the design or left out. Lastly, we will learn the age old art of book binding by creating a 4 x 6 inch blank book of our very own, using drawing paper, cardboard, fabric, glue and traditional page stitching methods. These books make wonderful gifts, but it's nice to use your book as a journal or sketchbook! All material fees are included.

*plus $4 processing fee

"You learn a lot about a community by how much it embraces, elevates and provides access to the arts. AOY Art Center, a nonprofit artistic hub on Mirror Lake Road, provides countless opportunities for residents to embrace their artistic side as a vehicle for growth, creativity, and profound joy. Through adult classes, youth programs, and public events, AOY Art Center uses the arts to not only inspire community members but also connect them to one another."
