The world of sculpture encompasses many different methods and outcomes. We will explore sculpture in the round both by carving (reduction) and modelling (addition). We will use carving tools, rasps, smoothing tools and burnishers to create a 3-D "In the Round" Sculpture from carving foam. Artists use carving foam to create incredible detail without the need for a hammer and chisel! The foam can be painted and finished to make a lasting impression. We will also learn to create a wire armature for a 3-D Figure and either leave the wire showing or cover the figure with plaster of Paris strips. These strips can be painted making a beautiful finished product. We will learn to use Sculpey to create small and medium sculptural pieces in "Relief." Sculpey can be built up and made to take on dozens of textures and forms. At the end of this camp, the students will truly be Advanced Sculptors! All material fees are included in the price.
