Expand your child’s artistic vision and growth by learning the fundamentals of the oil painting medium. This course focuses on understanding essential materials and techniques. We'll begin with observational skills and draw from a still life – learning to see forms and values in the shapes of objects. After transferring the drawing onto canvas, we will sketch directly in oil and develop a tonal underpainting to understand light and shadow. Students will also have the opportunity to paint from their imagination that creates a personal connection to their work. They’ll learn about essential tools, medium handling, and proper palette setup, while mastering color mixing and matching using water mixable oil paints. All materials included.
