The Secrets of transparent WATERCOLOR:
A class for those who have painted in transparent watercolor and want to get better. We will look at master watercolors of all kinds and styles and determine what makes some stand out by viewing and analyzing a curated list. You will progress by building on your existing skills and knowledge into your own
repeatable way of developing a painting. Find out what’s holding you back.
Materials and methods will be reviewed including paint, paper, palettes, and brushes needed to do good work. Demonstrations and explanations of each step will be demonstrated and hands-on help will be given to you at your pace.
You will see and learn how to use the key tools of watercolor to make better paintings by;

Making areas of color with WASHES, the foundation of transparent watercolor painting: Wet, Dry, damp, or All. Flat and Graded.
VALUE STUDIES The key to composition and simplification.
Control the viewers eye with EDGES; Lost and Found, Soft and hard. how we make them, what do they do for my paintings? Create depth, emphasis, and suppression Control where I look and organize with VALUES and Shapes: Large and small, and DETAILS: How do they matter? How much must I paint?
Create mood with COLOR: Subtle, or bold and dramatic Mixing and charging.
What do I paint first?
